Businesses use colors to differentiate themselves here in the
over-saturated, over-populated urban Chinese environment. [N.B. Chinese television advertisements are absolutely incomprehensible to me for the same reason. Constant motion, images flashing on and off, voices blaring…. No car dealership in Indiana can hold a candle to the level of insanity I find in nearly every advertisement here.] When I spied the comforting yellow of the sign for UBC Coffee on Friday while walking around Guomao Qiao looking for an internet café (wangba), I was grateful for chain restaurants for perhaps the first time in my adult life. I never did find an internet café though, thus the Sunday posting.
